SYNOPSIS
Victime d’un grave accident cérébral dans les contreforts de l'Himalaya indien, ORIANNE AYMARD, quelques années plus tard, déjoue les
pronostics établis par ses médecins, et décide de poursuivre son rêve et de gravir le Lhotse (8,516 m), sommet satellite du mont Everest et 4ème plus haut sommet au monde. Seule et unique femme
de son groupe, elle se lance ainsi dans un périple, qui la mènera au bout d’elle-même, aux frontières de la mort. Malgré le déroulement chaotique de son expédition, le 23 mai 2019, elle se
retrouve au sommet du Lhotse, contemplant devant elle Chomolungma, ou Everest, la Déesse Mère du Monde.
A travers ce témoignage, Orianne Aymard nous livre ici les étapes clés qui l’ont conduite au sommet du Lhotse et lui ont permis de rester en vie à la descente. Il s'agit d'un véritable
enseignement pour apprendre à se dépasser et faire face à des situations de crise, mais aussi à renforcer sa capacité de résilience et son
leadership.
En dépit de conditions particulièrement difficiles, Orianne a finalement atteint le sommet de l’Everest (8848 mètres) en mai 2023 ( (Elle.fr, Le Messager, le
Dauphiné Libéré, Le Figaro, Le Parisien, etc. s'en sont d'ailleurs fait l'écho ).
Un film documentaire, produit par la télévision et qui porte sur son histoire d'exploratrice aventurière alpiniste et spécialement son ascension de l’Everest, va sortir fin
2023-début 2024, il sera diffusé en France et à l’étranger.
Après le Lhotse (8516 mètres) en 2019, 4ème plus haut sommet du monde, l’Aconcagua (6962 mètres) en 2022, plus haut sommet des Amériques, cette ascension du toit du monde
constitue une nouvelle étape vers l’accomplissement de son projet du Grand Chelem des Explorateurs - l’ascension du plus haut sommet de chaque
continent « Seven Summits » et l’atteinte des 2 pôles à ski - , par une femme que rien ne prédisposait, au contraire, à réaliser de tels défis.

Refusing to accept this prognosis, Orianne embarked on an extraordinary journey of recovery and achievement. Against all odds, she scaled two of the world’s most iconic peaks: Lhotse (8,516m) and
Everest (8,848m), known as Chomolungma, the Mother Goddess of the world.
Through vivid and heartfelt storytelling, Orianne shares the defining moments of her journey—her doubts, struggles, and triumphs. Her keynote offers practical and profound lessons on resilience,
self-transcendence, and navigating crises with courage.

Orianne Aymard is a highly accomplished and multifaceted individual with a diverse career that spans diplomacy, humanitarian work, academia, and adventure.
Orianne has served as a humanitarian delegate with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), working in conflict zones across Africa and aiding recovery efforts after Haiti’s
earthquake. She also contributed to addressing global challenges such as religious tensions, extremism, and human rights through her work with the French Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
Orianne holds a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from the Université of Québec in Montréal and an MSc in Social Policy from the London School of Economics. A Visiting Scholar at Columbia University,
she has authored several books, including When a Goddess Dies (Oxford University Press), Sous l’œil de la Déesse (Mont-Blanc Editions), recounting her ascent of Lhotse, and Au cœur de l'Everest
(“To the Heart of Everest”, Mareuil Editions), detailing her climb of Everest and survival of a serac fall. She now lives in Chamonix and was the subject of the documentary “Everest, the Mother
Goddess”.
